Important Reminder:  Saint Cloud Solid Waste
Published - May 13th, 2026

Collection Schedules, Disposal Rules, and Changes to Special Bulk Pickup

Recently, the City of Saint Cloud's Solid Waste department caught some residents off guard by picking up regular trash unusually early.  We would like to remind you of some important details pertaining to trash collection within Stevens Plantation:

  • Saint Cloud's Solid Waste department dictates that all solid waste bins must be placed at the curb by 7:00 A.M. on the day of collection.  While some residents may be accustomed to seeing solid waste collected later in the day, staffing and routing changes can occur without notice and result could result in collection as early than expected.  As a result, the City insists that you place your waste bins at the curb by 7:00 A.M. on the day of their scheduled collection.

Waste bin placement is also important.  Place your bin at the curb (NOT in the street) and set it away from obstacles (such as mailboxes, vehicles, trees, etc.)  The City often uses trucks with telescoping arms to reach out and secure the bin for dumping.  It is recommended the bin be at least 3 feet from any obstacle that could interfere with the truck's collection process.  Don't forget to look up!  The trucks require vertical clearance to lift and invert the bin quite high into the air.  Your bin should not be placed directly beneath tree branches that will interfere with the truck's lifting process.

You may find more details on the City's website here:
    https://www.stcloudfl.gov/1910/22967/Placement-of-Carts

  • Do not place waste bins at the curb more than 24 hours before collection day, and remove them within 24 hours after collection.  Failure to do so will result in a violation with the Stevens Plantation ROA.  Continue to follow ROA restrictions regarding waste bin storage.  Waste bins should not be plainly visible in public view from the street.

  • Collection days for Stevens Plantation are as follows:

Tuesday - regular trash waste (reddish-brown bin)
Wednesday - yard/vegetative waste (green bin)
Friday - recyclable waste (blue bin)

Holidays will vary.  For details of collection on specific holidays, please visit the City's website here:
    https://www.stcloudfl.gov/1912/22970/Solid-Waste-Holiday-Schedule

  • Never use a different bin for additional capacity.  For example, if you have more regular trash waste than your bin can accommodate, do not use your blue recycling bin as overflow.  In the near future, the City's Solid Waste department will no longer collect those improperly used bins.  If you regularly require additional capacity, you may request an additional bin by contacting the Solid Waste department.  (Their phone number is conveniently located on the Stevens Plantation website.)

  • Starting May 1st, 2026, Solid Waste will no longer drive through the city looking for bulk waste to be collected.  Historically, Monday was designated as a "special bulk pickup" day, allowing residents to place bulk items at the curb for Solid Waste to collect with a "claw" truck.  A copy of the City's official press release about this change can be found here:
    https://www.stcloudfl.gov/DocumentCenter/View/37561/NR-26-23-Bulk-Pickup-Changes

Any resident with bulk waste must now schedule a special bulk pickup in advance by completing a digital form found here:
    https://www.stcloudfl.gov/2363/Schedule-a-Special-Bulk-Pickup

Submissions for special bulk pickup received before noon will be scheduled within two business days.  You will receive a confirmation email one business day before your scheduled bulk waste collection.  DO NOT PLACE BULK ITEMS AT THE CURB PRIOR TO YOUR SCHEDULED DAY.

  • Alternative to special bulk pickup, Solid Waste maintains a transfer station just around the corner from Stevens Plantation in which you may dispose of bulk materials with your vehicle.  More details about the types of waste accepted and operating hours may be found here:
    https://www.stcloudfl.gov/1909/Transfer-Station

  • If you have hazardous household chemicals or materials that require disposal, the City's transfer station has a drop-off area for such materials.  It is recommended you contact the Solid Waste department prior to drop-off to confirm the hazardous waste is acceptable at the transfer station.  (Their phone number is conveniently located on the Stevens Plantation website.)

  • Only a limited number of recyclable items are approved for collection.  It is important that you and your family remain familiar with the items that do and do not qualify for recycling in Saint Cloud.  The City's Solid Waste department is upgrading collection trucks with state-of-the-art camera equipment that will eventually monitor and report violations for unacceptable items placed in recycling bins.  The City maintains a detailed list of acceptable and unacceptable items here:
